The owner says:

Faversham is a welcoming town and the house is really cosy, especially in winter with a roaring fire in the grate. The garden is lovely in spring when the wisteria comes out and we’ve enjoyed many sunny evenings with a few glasses of wine. You couldn’t ask for a nicer street – there's real sense of community. People are always willing to take in parcels. You’re spoilt for choice in terms of restaurants and pubs, many less than ten minutes’ walk away. Plus, you're only an hour from London.

House history

The picturesque line of cottages at end of West Street was built in the mid-17th century to house the supervisors working at one of Faversham’s three gunpowder mills.
Incredibly, the town records show one of the house’s first owners, possibly even the original occupant. William Smith, a manager at Chart Mill Gunpowder Works, lived at 68 West Street 250 years ago. Smith was obviously good at his job and was head-hunted to start up the gunpowder industry in Bengal. He emigrated to Asia on a ship called the Lord Anson in 1760, taking with him scale models of the machinery he'd need. In later years the house became a shop, which is why it has a larger front window than its neighbours.
