At the beginning of the year we made a pledge to raise £5000 for charity and said that in addition to Children In Need, The Creek Trust and The Faversham Community Christmas Lights we would find a third local charity to support. We are very pleased to announce that we have found a very worthwhile charity that we will be supporting this year. The charity we have chosen is called Holding On Letting Go which we will support in memory of Ben Moss.
Ben lived in Faversham with his wife Rosie and their three young children. Tragically Ben disappeared during a Scuba diving incident in March 2018, leaving Rosie and their children devastated and struggling to cope with their loss. Sadly their grief was compounded as the family found it incredibly difficult to find support or any form of bereavement counselling until they came across Kent bereavement charity Holding On Letting Go which supports children who have suffered significant loss.
Due to the work the charity do, Rosie and her family were able to seek counselling, advice and support. The charity run specialist bereavement weekends, parent and carer groups and help in smaller ways too by organising trips, arranging Christmas presents and organising children’s parties.
Due to the support of Holding On Letting Go Rosie and her family are slowly being able to rebuild their lives. Rosie is so grateful for their support that she has decided to raise money for the charity in Ben’s memory by running in Manchester’s Marathon this Sunday. If you would like to support Rosie in her fund raising efforts please donate via her fund raising page https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/runrosierun123
The team at Saxon Shore wont be running with her (this year) but we will be arranging some fund raising activities throughout 2019 which we hope will enable Holding On Letting Go to continue their incredible work.
