Happy Birthday Saxon Shore

Saxon Shore is two today!

Sometimes we can hardly believe that Saxon Shore is still so young, as it’s achieved so much in such a short period of time.  As we celebrate turning two it seems only fitting to have a quick round up of what’s happened over the last twelve months.

Over the past year, we have built on the success we achieved in 2017 by consistently being in the top three estate agents for Faversham according to figures provided by Rightmove.  We are delighted to have finished the year as the TOP agent for sales and third for new instructions, which gives Saxon Shore the highest sales conversion rate of any estate agent covering Faversham*.

Despite the housing market going through a slight downturn at the moment we have been so busy that in November this year we recruited Maisie to join our team.  Maisie came to us fresh from university and what she lacks in experience she more than makes up for in enthusiasm and has already proved to be a hit both with us and with our clients.  Not only that, after her first solo viewing she received an offer on the property and it was accepted!  We predict great things for Maisie in 2019.

Awards

One of the big surprises this year was that we were nominated and won two customer service awards.  We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded Gold for the Best Estate Agent in Faversham by the British Property Awards and to have won the Best Family-Run Estate Agency in Kent from Build 2018 Real Estate and Property Awards.

We were also delighted to hear that our Saxon Shore wine, made at the family run Terlingham Vinyards, was awarded Silver by the Independent English Wine Awards 2018.

Community

We have continued supporting Faversham and the community in which we work and love, we have run a few charity events this year in addition to our annual sponsorship of the Faversham Safari Boards.

In March we pledged to support Plastic Free Faversham by giving away re-useable thermal mugs to help reduce waste.  Some of these mugs have been on adventures all over the world and we have really enjoyed seeing the pictures sent in by our social media followers.

We had a stall during the Mid Summer Night’s Feast market, selling locally grown Mount Ephraim Cherries to help raise more money for the Faversham Creek Trust.  This, together with our sponsorship of the Faversham Garage Safari, meant that we raised over £600 in total for the Faversham Creek Trust

We also organised a Ramble in aid of Children In Need, taking a leisurely walk along a stretch of our beloved Saxon Shore.  This was a fantastic day (luckily we had beautiful weather) over 70 people joined us and donated and we managed to raised a whopping £1000 for BBC’s Children in Need

And then, who could forget our adorable Christmas pony, Rupert?  He returned for a second year and managed to raise £140 for the Faversham Community Christmas lights.  He also popped along to the market place to hang a couple of decorations (with help from a couple of the Saxon Shorelets).

Talking of Christmas tree’s, following a lot of negativity in the press about Faversham’s Christmas tree only being half decorated (it’s been decorated this for years for a number of reasons) we decided to add a few decorations of our own.  So one Saturday morning Maisie and I popped down to decorate it’s ‘naked bottom’.  We were joined by some other local residents and Ollie Bongo who donated some more decorations.  It’s been fantastic to see more residents adding to the tree over the following weeks.

As well as charity events we have been proud to sponsor many other local events and projects including Faversham 365 which is a community photography project. Now complied into a book with a photo a day recording life in Faversham over the year.  We have also been proud to support Faversham Literary Festival, The Memorial Gardens, Faversham Traders Association, Faversham Community Christmas Lights and the Faversham Hop Festival make a total raised and donated by Saxon Shore Estate Agents in 2018 of £3541.00

Leaders in the field

Our business approach has always been to be more than just an estate agency, we wanted to do things differently, work within and support our local community.

The Saxon Shore model has been picked up by social media trainers who have used us as an example of how services can be sold via social media.  In addition, Estate Agents both locally and in the wider area, have adopted many of our ideas which we find a huge compliment.  You will notice many agents are now using social media more and more to market themselves and their properties.

We have also noticed some adoption of artist-designed boards which will make the process of buying and selling homes a much prettier process for everyone.

We have forged relationships with other local agents William Property Management and Foundation, we look forward to building many more relationships with others in 2019.  Of course it’s not just local agents we have built relationships with, we have a lovely friendship growing with Lancasters on The Isle Of Wight and reguarly send each other postcards, cards and social media posts promoting why we love the areas we live and work in.

So now, as we move into 2019, what now for Saxon Shore?  Well we don’t intend to sit back, we have many plans for the year.  We plan to build on the success we have achieved so far, we plan to raise even more money for charity and support more local events.  We will continue to try to promote Faversham and it’s community and help many more families find their dream home.

Before we get started on what is looking to be another very busy year we would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all of our friends, fans and followers.  We are very proud that the majority of our business comes through personal recommendation.  We know that we wouldn’t be were we are today if it wasn’t for everyone who has supported us along the way.  We are hugely grateful to each and everyone of you.

Wish you all a very happy, and healthy 2019.
